A Hooker's Poem

A Hooker Poem
My wife is a hooker, Of this she's mighty proud,
And the stories of her exploits, Are legends in our town.
She's shameless with her talents, She'll go hooking anywhere,
And if people want to watch her, She really doesn't care.
It seems to be a family thing, Her mother taught her how.
Seems her grandma was a hooker, and my daughter's hooking now.
She goes to Hookers' meetings, to learn the new techniques.
She starts hooking in a frenzy, and won't talk to me for weeks.
She doesn't do the housework, She doesn't make the beds,
No she doesn't have time for that, She'd rather hook instead.
My wife, she is a hooker, and I curse that awful day,
when she first picked up the hook and yarn, and learned how to Crochet!!

SFCSwap Topic #5

You know with Spring the famous saying goes "April Showers, bring May flowers", please tell us what you like to do when those April Showers are pouring down on you. Do you like to curl up with your knitting, take in a movie or crawl back in bed?

Well normally for this question I would have to say I love to bake and listen to the sound of the rain. Cloudy days are always great baking days for me. When done baking would usually sit and crochet and enjoy the quiet time.
Now being in the desert here...I would be standing out in the middle of it dancing around and loving every minute of it! Yep, we don't get much rain here and when it does you usually find us out in it. Of course most of the times its just drops and seem to dry with in minutes. God knows I love a good thunderstorm, love to watch the lighting and listen to the rain! someone want to send me some? lol

A Hug in the Mail!

(Stolen from Chan's blog, MJ modeling)

My apologies to my dearest Chan for not posting this sooner. It has just been crazy here, but
I received an absolutely beautiful package on Saturday just before having to go bowl. Boy was I surprised when I opened it up! Its gorgeous, love the color and the yarns!! Chan has all the details on this beautiful Omega wrap here. I have to say, Yes Chan, it fits just like a "hug"! I do so appreciate very much, definitely well needed!! (the "Hug") Thank you so much!!! I've even worn it in the evenings when I take Lady outback for that last potty, it does get chilly still at night here in the desert. Its just perfect! Will have to add that Lady loves it too! Silly pup always has her nose sniffing at it, so I'm thinking she smells Sissy & Mugsy! (or she likes the yarn thingies) Makes it extra special as she gets a hug too! I will get a picture of the Omega on me very soon, but don't be surprised if Lady's in the pic too!
I loved the postcard, it was perfect, along also with the notepad! Thank you so much, you just don't know how that has helped my mood. Guess I've been fooling myself saying I'm okay :), guess just alittle lost here lately and a havoc household with things starting to fall apart...just makes my little world more crazy!

Almost Forgot DoT!

Sorry I'm late, was out and about this morning picking up items for my coffee swap pal and this is the first time I actually got to sit beside eating lunch about an hour ago...lol
I think I got a good shot, been trying to get one of Lady & Dyna "near" each other. Lady still chases her unless I'm around so not sure whats going on with these two. I did ask my DIL if her mom would want another cat, hate the thought of Lady chewing her up again. Last time Lady got her pretty good. Anyways, hopefully this will happen more often, but its the best one I could get so far...
Don't mind the disaster in the hallway..the gated area down a ways is "the room", use to be my craftroom...lol Now its Dyna's safe place (Rob's room). Mind you Lady is being really good cause she's know I'm right there, but I wonder whats going on in her mind...lol

To update on Lady she is doing pretty good..back to playing, eating different treats and I'm finally able to say she is eating some food again :) She seems to like those Mixables and just today I actually started mixing alittle food in with them (after wasting several before trying to get her to eat). She does have quite a few new toys, but she does play with them all, though I think half of them are under the sofa again...

Hope you have a good Dogs on Thursday!!

SFCS Topic #4

Let's pretend for a minute we all live in the home of our dreams, have land, and don't have to work so time is unlimited! It's Spring planting season! What would you grow? A little veggie garden? A bed of bright spring blooms? Or is your thumb so far from green that the only thing you'd be planting is your tushy into a nice chair on the porch to get some knitting or crocheting done in the nice breeze?
Oh my my, that means I'm not in Las Vegas- Woo-hoo!! I like this idea!!
You would find me out and about in both a flower and veggie garden, but also on a porch swing relaxing with my crochet and enjoying life all around me. I never thought I had a green thumb and being out here it depends on what it is if I can make it grow or not, but I had great success a couple years ago in growing watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydews, eggplant for my DIL and tomatoes and peppers. Boy was I shocked after losing a bunch of bushes that are suppose to grow out here..lol Who would've guessed it! I haven't had much success with an Orange tree or Lemon tree, Lady likes to eat the blooms off them, but I'm gonna buy another one and teach her to leave it alone! I did cut my grape vine back so far as I didn't expect it to grow as I was gonna pull it out, but its been growing back so we'll see what happens. If I lived anywhere else in the world but here, I definitely would have me some dogwood trees, azaleas, lilacs for sure, they are a favorite of mine...actually any "normal", "real" regular growing flowering plant would be in my garden.
I will be making a section I have blocked up some as a memory garden. I either have to move my grape vine or work around it..lol That marked area will have roses as those are the only plants I seem to have luck with out this way, but I'm gonna try again with some veggie and fruits. I'll have to do the container gardening and plant less in one container..learn well from the first time :) If I ever get it together here soon I'll take pic when things start growing.

I sure hope we all live near one another too so we can share our gardens!

Michelle's Runnin Buddy!

Oh I just couldn't wait to show you all this! I think he turned out so cute and it was really hard not to talk about it, except to Chan :) I knew Michelle was into Harry Potter and after confirming it with Chan, I thought I'd make her a Snitch for her buddy buster...something that was missing from her swap package! Talking with Chan about my ideas and some of hers too, I came up with the Running Snitch!
Isn't he just too cute!! Removable headband too...lol I did get him to stand up on his own, just had to balance him out right..lol Not sure if my timing was on or off, as Michelle got him today and she also has her Snitch Cake finished too. You should see what she did. Seems theres a Snitch Party going on over her way, so I say- HAPPY BIRTHDAY 8 year old Gryffindor Seeker!!
Hope its a great party, mom sure did lots to prepare for it :) Eat a piece of cake for me too, Please!!

Dog, Coffee & Buttons

Have a mixture today with my DoT post. This was Lady this morning when Rob tried to lay on the sofa to nap a bit before our running around....(sorry for the dark pic, I was in the other room when I took it)
She must love the camera cause she was laying down with eyes close..don't think she's camera shy do you..lol Then later, when Rob and I got home (which leads to next paragraph), I walked down the hallway with camera in hand and she gave me this look, just laying there so pretty.
Think she was wondering what I was gonna do next..lol
I am glad to say that my Baby girl is doing much much better. She's actually been playing like she use too and also out back with her ball. I'm bound and determine to get a pic of her and Dyna together. Couple days ago Dyna was down walking along the top of the chair arm and they were nose to nose, but my camera was in the other room and I knew Dyna would fly if I moved. (only reason she was so close I think, mom would save her..lol) Lady still chases her but at least she is around alittle more. Still Lady isn't eating much of her food and I did change foods and she ate some the first time I put it in her bowl..think I'm gonna have to get her a new bowl. One that she knows is hers. (she had been pushed out her bowl so many times before)
Now while Rob and I were out and of all places, I would've never guessed, Look what I found!
I took a pic before opening the second one..yes I bought 2, only two that were there and found it at Ross..lol We are in love with that Double Chocolate and I love that Mike actually loves it too. So this should hold us for a couple weeks I hope so I can figure out where to get more..lol
While we were out, we stopped in Wal-Mart. Rob's allowed to wear shorts at work so he needed to go, so you know me, have to hit the craft section always and while I didn't walk out with any real crafty stuff I did find these adorable things..
I hope to get some more stuff made out and use these cute buttons, perfect for spring & summer I think.
Well have to get my day 3 on a cloth knit along..yes, I'm still trying and I'll be alright until I hit a new stitch..lol So far its just knit & purl and I can do those. And as far as my new Spindle, I read the instructions last night and understand them now. I also watched a you-tube video though mine is a bottom whirl so need to find a video on botton one or get another spindle..lol
You all have a great DoT Day!!

Goodies & Bad Influences!

First the Goodies....
I want to Thank Paula (Thank you), from over at Dogs on Thursday! What a great package to come home too and even Lady got in the act!
The mailman brought some goodies for doggie, kitty & humans!
Lady send her Thanks too, she loved the chicken strips, but buried the bone..lol guess she's saving it for later. (having a hard time with her eating bones lately). I know Dyna will love the cat nip, but I'll have to make her some more toys to put it in as Lady chewed up most of them when she was a pup. I never did replace them as Lady thinks they belong to her....silly pup!
Us humans Thank you too for the Truffles. I know they are yummy!! I forgot to put the card in the pic, but its a beautiful card with a lot of feeling, one that has touched my heart! Thank you so much Paula for everything and make sure you give Elise lots of special hugs from us & Lady..actually a few bites on the tip of the ear will work from Lady..lol Seems to be her way.
I also want to Thank Nancy & Reggae too as she sent two cards that really hit my stars post. They both are night time sky with outlines of the animal in stars. One is a dog, other is a cat. I've always watched the heavens for stars at night and do still sometimes wish on them. I have several stars that I look up at night when I can. I like to think each of my stars (family or pet members) are up their watching over me so these two cards really touched my heart also.

Thank you also to everyone who has helped us through with thoughts, prayers and good vibes and wishes. We really appreciate them all and it has helped tremendously. I just can't get over how much love & kindness comes through this computer from all my blogger friends..Thank you all so very much!

Now to the bad influences...and I think you know who you are (wink wink)
Look what else came in the mail today...I've always had a curiousity for it and almost learned it back in the late 80's, but wound up learning to weave instead. Isn't it pretty?
My brain must be fried from my busy day today at work cause I couldn't understand a thing I read...lol (I haven't had too much concentration lately) I have not the slightest clue what kind of spindle or what to even do with it other than to spin it like a top..lol Its got my curiosity and I loved the purples/blues fiber it had, (pic doesn't do the color justice at all) and yep, that why I bought that one, for the color fiber..lol Maybe tomorrow will be a better day to look over the instructions again :) I'll have to watch out for this piece, I think Dyna would take a liking to it especially once it starts moving..lol Believe me, I'll let you all know how it goes, unless I have to put out a cry for help...lol

SFCS-Topic of the Week #3

This week's topic:
Tell us how you started drinking coffee. Were you in high school or college and making it through all nighters? Did you get it from a family member? What drives your love of the bean?

My very first taste of coffee, although not sure how much coffee I actually did taste then.. I was 2 yrs old and wanted what my daddy had, so Mom took a couple teaspoons of coffee and milked the rest down. Boy did I think I was in heaven then...lol My dad drank coffee all day long and mom just one in the morning and one after supper.
I actually started drinking coffee more after I got married. One of those peculator electric pots and it just stemmed from there. Today I'm like my dad in drinking it all day/night long, right up to bed. Just love everything about it. I definitely have to have the caffeine, but I also love the taste.

Spring Fling Topic 2

Topic Of The Week #2
Since some of us is beginning to see glimpse of Spring, while others are still getting snow have you change what projects are working on? Have you put away the hats, scarfs and mittens, and brought out the cute tank top sweater projects and lacy wraps? Have you change yarn to something more lighter and cooler, not so heavy and bulky?

Not me, I'm on the Year long gift along blog and I have quite of few mittens & scarves on my list to do. Granted their not big projects but it doesn't matter the weather..If I'm indoors then its not too hot...lol I DO have an afghan for my Quarter Challenge to do but I still don't think it will be too heavy to work on.

Lady in the DoT Spotlight!!

My baby's in the Doggie Spotlight today! Hope you'll go on over and read her Bio.

Just to add for an update, you can see she is fine, just my baby girl is lonely and not interested in eating anything but treats. I did stop and get a couple of those squeaker toys, but only gave her one for now.
This is mostly how she's been. She will play for a few minutes then its off to go lay somewhere.

We "Thank you" for all the cyber love you've shared with us during this difficult time. There sure is alot of bloggin love out there and we're sure glad to be a part of it!

Happy Dog on Thursday to everyone!!

My Shining Stars!

Two more shiny stars in the sky at night. We Love you girls!

Storm aka "Stormers"
April 13, 1998- April 8, 2008

Electra aka "Panther"
Sept. 1, 1994- April 8, 2008

I definitely want to Thank you all for all the warm thoughts, the prayers & especially the Hugs! I'm just about to bust loose finally, did manage well all day so far, but now the clean up at home I'm finding alittle hard. Lady is napping for now and I'm not sure how she's really doing. I know she didn't want to leave the vets office. We did get her outside and literally had to pick her up to put her in the car. We stopped and got a couple new squeaker toys...yea, she'll chew them up enough to get the squeakers out, but I know she loves those things, they really are her favorite.

Will say its awfully quiet around here, but so far we are all doing okay. Hanging in the best we can!!

Some Goodies I was Expecting!

Just a quick post so the girls know I got my "stuff". I've been expecting yarn from Amanda as I have lots of sock projects I'm hoping to do for Christmas gifts for the family. Well they came today and they are absolutely gorgeous! Take a look, but watch out for my stupid blinding flash, Aren't they pur-dy? Thank you Mama!! I can't wait to make something with them.
Then a second package I wasn't expecting so soon, but I think you've all seen over at Anita's. She did a tape measure for me on my other hobbies and sent me an extra gift for my "saucy" personality..lol. I now have my very own FIRST set of Crochet Stitch Markers! Thank you Anita, that was really sweet!
Aren't they so cute! I think their cute little fellows and I'll need a Pina Colada to cool them down some! I also think she did an Awesome job with the tape measure. Thank you so much Anita!!! I LOVE it!! You know that's specifically for my bag I take with on bowling nights.
Thank you ladies so very much! you both have awesome talents!
Well I'm off for a bit, promised the other girls some play time before it gets too dark out there. Oh and "Thank you" to everyone for the Hugs, Thoughts & Prayers. I know you'll all be us tomorrow! :) Mike will be there too!
You all have a great evening!! later....................

Snuggles

Friday night found me making a snuggle. The blueish one was leftover red heart yarn that I had, one was a variegated (not sure the name of it, no label) and the other was a solid blue. I really love the way it blended together.
The lighter snuggle I made Saturday morning using one strand Aran and one strand beige I had left. Lady even checked it out so I think they have her approval.
I will be taking these snuggles up to the vet when we go Tuesday. I'm sure they can use them up there for the animals they keep. They really are thick using the double strands and I am sure they'd help soften the hard cage bottoms.

Forgotten Post of Goodies

I can't believe I forgot to post some goodies I received from a great friend a week or so ago. (Well I guess I can, I am Ms. Forgetful) It was a "Back to Work" package from JoAnn over at Cape Sox Knitter. I'm so sorry JoAnn that I forgot to post this, things have just been crazy around here lately.
Just look at all this tasty stuff! Yummmmmmmmmmmmm...
JoAnn was my secret pal in the last Dishcloth Swap and had spoiled me with some of these coffee samples. It was love at first taste. Well we fell in love with the Ghirardelli Double Chocolate and Chocolate Carmel flavors and when not being able to find it out here she sent me some more. She decided I needed a "Back to Work" package. She even included Chocolate Raspberry which we know is good :) We haven't gotten into the Biscotti yet, but I'm sure we will soon. Thank you ever so much JoAnn, we are enjoying it very much!! So sorry this post got lost in my mind..lol

Sad Update!

After pondering words on how to update I figured I would just come here and say it. I know alot of you follow Storm's update and its with a sad heart that I have to say that today was a big set back. All of you know that I was saying Storm was doing really good since I had quit work and we even had to lower her insulin cc's, well since I've been back at work now for 2 weeks she's been steadily going downhill and we've had to up her insulin again. Today I received a frantically panic call from Rob saying Storm was having a really bad seizure. By the time I got home he had cleaned up the mess and had her on her feet, but did say I would need to wash the floor. We did get her calmed down, this is hard for a dog who is very skiddish and so scared at the slightest thing that's different, but after about an hour I got her to eat. I had called the vet and set a time to have her put down. I just can't believe I did that, but think this was what I was suppose to do, though I thought it would be my 1 cat (which might still be). I wasn't sure how to write all this and I still am not sure but just wanted to let you know in case I disappear for longer times then normal that you know whats going on. I remember the vet saying they have seizures and he was surprised back in Nov when this all started that she hadn't,(especially as bad as diabetic as she is), but he did say they just get worse as they go and sometimes don't come out of it. I love my Stormie too much to have to put her through something she doesn't understand. Just these 2 weeks being back at just part time she's been really clingy and has that lost look. With work now wanting to put me back at my original full time status soon I figured it was time to save her from her future of madness. She just doesn't understand what is going on with her and it kills me to see her go through this. I know Lady will miss her alot but do plan to spend lots of time this weekend with them both. Just hope Lady will be okay, she's seems more worried about Storm and they always wait for each other for everything. I really wish it could wait a little longer as Storm's B-day is on the 13th but we go Tuesday the 8th @ 8am to say good-bye. I'm taking Lady too for a nail trim and so she knows whats going on. Taking one to the vet at a time they go nuts looking for each other so I'm hoping this will let her know we left Storm at the vets.
Sorry gang, I just haven't ever done anything like this before and didn't know how to write it.
Thought maybe it might help me alittle too writing it out plus give you all fair warning cause I'll be a wreck. She's momma girl! Wasn't this year suppose to be better? :)
